To November and Beyond: Protecting and Leveraging Biopharma Patent Rights
Got the election on your mind? Would a drink help?
Join LAIPLA friends and peers from across Los Angeles’ life sciences community for a special Patents On Tap Happy Hour event on Tuesday, July 23 at BioscienceLA!
The past several years have seen significant legislative developments and actions across governmental agencies that affect patent rights for life sciences companies. What might happen after the election? How could your company be affected? What can you do to prepare?
The LAIPLA Patent Committee’s informative panel will feature in-the-trenches perspectives from in-house and outside counsel on significant topics currently facing life sciences companies, including:
- The FTC’s challenges to patent use, including in the pending Teva v. Amneal case;
- The USPTO’s recent approach to terminal disclaimer practice, and implications for patent prosecution;
- The IRA’s impact on drug pricing and patent value.
The panel will address best practices for preparing for and managing risk in obtaining and enforcing patents, and how the election might change the landscape (or not).
Our distinguished panelists include:
- Arka Chatterjee, Natera, Inc.
- Natasha Daughtrey, Goodwin Procter LLP (counsel in Teva)
- Cynthia Hathaway, Global Patent Group
- Sarah Cork, Ph.D. (moderator), Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP
Networking to begin at 5 pm; panel to follow. Register here. BioScienceLA is located in Culver City and has ample free on-site parking. Although this event is life sciences-focused, all are welcome!
