Fred McKelvey was an important career employee and leader of the Patent Office. He served as Solicitor in the 1990’s and then moved to the position of Chief Judge of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. After retirement he had, on occasion, served as a Senior Administrative Patent Judge.
