The Diversity Outreach Committee is a new committee that seeks to promote and enhance diversity in LAIPLA membership. A key initiative of the committee is the LAIPLA Diversity Summer Fellowship Program, which awards $5,000 to a first-year or second-year law student for 10 weeks of work on intellectual property matters. The recipient will be placed at an in-house legal department in a private or public organization in the Greater Los Angeles area. The Diversity Summer Fellowship Program reflects LAIPLA’s ongoing commitment to diversity and to encouraging individuals from underrepresented or underprivileged communities to practice IP law. The program will provide diverse law students with the opportunity to build contacts with IP practitioners and expertise in the field. Diversity Outreach Committee members will work extensively with in-house attorneys to advertise the fellowship, select the fellow, and evaluate the recipient’s work.

We welcome your participation and support! We are looking for additional members to assist with the application and selection process, as well as to find host legal departments and sponsors.
