“To Educate and Connect”
The Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association is the premier intellectual property law association in Southern California. Now in our 80th year, LAIPLA has been educating and connecting members of the intellectual property legal community since 1934. Every year we continue to expand by introducing new programs geared to our growing organization. The Copyright and Trademark Committee will offer programs specifically designed for our members’ needs in the copyright and trademark IP areas. We’ve also initiated the Ambassador Program, ensuring that the greater IP community learns about our programs in a timely manner and building bridges to increase membership and organizational outreach.
With more than 500 members, LAIPLA represents a mix of judicial officers, corporate in-house counsel, partners and associates at firms of all sizes, solo practitioners, and students who specialize in patent, trademark and copyright law. Our events are known throughout the country for bringing together national experts, premier judges, and corporate leaders in intellectual property law. Each year, we hold four to six dinner meetings as well as our Washington in the West program, Judges’ Night, and our popular Spring Seminar. In 2013, we’ve added a Spring Networking event, a Trademark Boot camp, and our innovative Ambassador Outreach program. We also provide tremendous legal resources through our IP bloggers, Hal Wegner’s “Wegner’s Writings” and John Welch’s “The TTAB Blog“.
As a non-profit organization, LAIPLA relies on generous sponsors to help make our programs affordable for the IP legal community at large.
If you are an IP attorney living in the greater Los Angeles area, we encourage you to come to one of our events and become involved with LAIPLA committees. You can also connect with us through LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
The Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider (#2083). LAIPLA maintain copies of the MCLE sign-in sheets for a period not to exceed five (5) years. While LAIPLA provides Certificates of Attendance to each Attendee, it is the Attendee’s responsibility to verify his/her attendance at the Seminar by signing the LAIPLA’s MCLE sign-in sheet for each day of seminar attendance.
